TUBMAN UNIVERSITY HOSTS PARTNERS IN HEALTH DELEGATION TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION

WVSTU: - William V. S. Tubman University (TU) on Thursday, March 26, welcomed a high-level delegation from Partners In Health (PIH) to strengthen collaboration and provide visiting PIH board members with firsthand insight into the impact of ongoing joint programs.

The delegation was led by Dr. Maxo Luma, Executive Director of PIH Liberia, and included Amy Huizing, Managing Director and Board Member at PIH; Dr. Stephen Kahn, Founder of the Abundance Foundation and PIH Board Member; along with Dr. Gerald Ekwen, Dr. Gueilledana Paul, Veronica G. Nimene, Emily Williams, and Sam Zota.
The visit provided Amy Huizing and Dr. Stephen Kahn with firsthand understanding of the partnership between Tubman University and PIH, particularly programs within the College of Health Sciences.

At a formal meeting in the University's Conference Room, Dr. Maria Rebecca Fe-Gueta, Vice President of Academic Affairs, speaking on behalf of TU President Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, warmly welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the University's commitment to strengthening its partnership with PIH.

Dr. Fe-Gueta expressed gratitude for PIH's continued support, highlighting how the collaboration has enhanced academic and professional development within the College of Health Sciences. She also shared plans to launch postgraduate programs in Critical Care Nursing, Social Medicine, and Neonatology by September 2026.
She informed the delegation that a joint TU-PIH Working Committee is actively developing curricula and coordinating with the Liberia Board of Nursing and the University of Global Health Equity, Rwanda (UGHE) to implement these programs.

Lauretta Dahn, Chair of the Department of Nursing highlighted the College's achievements. She noted key milestones from the collaboration, such as advanced training for faculty and students through PIH-supported master's programs, improved student transportation with a donated Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep, upgraded skills laboratories, and the establishment of an e-learning center of excellence.

Speaking on behalf of PIH, Dr. Maxo Luma commended Tubman University for its warm reception and praised the strong, productive partnership between the two institutions. He emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration, particularly by strengthening e-learning infrastructure with improved electricity and internet connectivity to benefit nursing students.

The visit marks another milestone in the partnership between Tubman University and Partners In Health, with both institutions reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing health education and building capacity in Liberia.
