WVSTU: William V. S. Tubman University (TU) is set to strengthen its academic and research environment with the introduction of an online library and Turnitin anti-plagiarism and AI detection services, beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year.

‎The initiative follows a strategic engagement between TU senior administrators and representatives of EBSCO, a global academic research database provider. The discussions also involved Mr. Aggrey Sang of EBSCO and Dr. Jackline Mayende, a senior librarian from AGU Tanzania, who supported the technical design of the online library system.

‎Once operational, the online library will give students, faculty, and researchers access to thousands of peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and international academic databases, strengthening research and improving academic output across the university.

‎In addition, TU has signed an agreement with Turnitin to deploy plagiarism detection and AI-content identification tools aimed at promoting academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarship.

‎This initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to modernize teaching and learning while aligning the institution with global higher education standards.
‎TU President/CEO Dr. Olu Q. Menjay said the new systems will enhance innovation, research capacity, and academic excellence across the university community "These tools will empower our students and faculty to produce high-quality, original research that meets international academic standards," he said.

‎The rollout marks a key milestone in Tubman University's transformation into a more digitally driven and research-focused institution.
