Learning Support Services

The Department of Student Development and Learning Support Services, under the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Services, is responsible for providing academic support to students at various academic levels at William V.S. Tubman University. The Department collaborates with the Departments of Admissions, Counseling, Student Clubs and Activities, and the University Clinic to prioritize students' well-being. To adequately prepare our students for success and academic excellence at TU, the Department has instituted various opportunities for students to explore their potential for academic achievement. Key activities of the Department include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing student development and learning support programs such as seminars and symposiums, with an emphasis on promoting a culture of research;

  • Arranging tutoring initiatives and utilizing peer tutors;

  • Assisting in the development and writing of programs to support students;

  • Providing individual and group training on career development for students;

  • Maintaining effective communication with students to ensure awareness of the university's learning support mechanisms;

  • Collaborating with university staff regarding tutoring, progress reviews, and academic feedback;

  • Overseeing the induction process for new students, commonly known as the Rising, to ensure a smooth transition to higher education;

  • Establishing effective mechanisms for quality student support programs;

  • Working closely with the Chairs and Deans of Colleges to provide academic support services.
