WVST: William V. S. Tubman University (TU) continues to strengthen its global research presence, with one of its own scholars contributing to a landmark international study on clean energy and sustainable development.

Francis Kloh Fukah, Acting Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, is among a distinguished team of researchers whose work appears in the globally recognized journal Energy Strategy Review. The study, titled "Transitioning to Clean Energy and Opportunities for Developing Countries," examines how developing nations can move from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power.

It highlights the vast opportunities for economic transformation, particularly in regions like Sub- Saharan Africa, where access to reliable electricity remains a challenge.

Fukah's contribution places Tubman University at the center of critical global discussions on climate action and energy policy. The research highlights the importance of decentralized energy systems, particularly solar-powered mini-grids, in expanding electricity access to rural and underserved communities.

According to the findings, such systems can significantly improve livelihoods by supporting small businesses, enhancing education and healthcare services, and promoting inclusive economic growth. However, the study also cautions that high startup costs, weak financial systems, and limited technical capacity continue to slow progress in many developing nations.

Currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania, Fukah represents a new generation of Tubman University scholars making meaningful contributions beyond Liberia's borders. His work reflects the University's emphasis on research-driven solutions to real-world challenges.

Under the leadership of Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, Tubman University has increasingly prioritized international collaboration, faculty development, and impactful research. Fukah's latest
publication is a testament to that vision, reinforcing the institution's growing reputation as a hub for academic excellence and innovation in Liberia.
