William V. S. Tubman University on Friday, March 13, 2026 welcomed Her Excellency Isabelle Le Guellec, Ambassador of France to Liberia, for an official visit aimed at strengthening educational cooperation and promoting the teaching and learning of the French language in Liberia.
During the visit, the Ambassador held discussions with the university administration headed by Dr. Olu Q. Menjay. The meeting focused on opportunities for academic collaboration, institutional partnerships, and initiatives to expand French language education and cultural exchange programs at the University.
Speaking on behalf of the University, TU President Dr. Olu Q. Menjay welcomed the Ambassador and emphasized the institution's commitment to building stronger international partnerships. He noted that Tubman University views the visit as an important step toward deepening academic collaboration between Liberia and France, particularly in the areas of language education, cultural exchange, and student development.
"We are honored to receive the French Ambassador at Tubman University. This engagement reflects our commitment to building meaningful international partnerships and advancing collaboration with France in areas that directly benefit our students herein Maryland, especially language learning, cultural exchange, and academic growth." Said Dr. Menjah.
However, the French Ambassador Her Excellency Isabelle Le Guellec expressed her excitement and appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the administration of Tubman University. She highlighted the significance of her visit, noting that it provides an important opportunity to engage with the university community and strengthen relations between France and Liberia. She further emphasized the value of fostering collaboration in areas that support academic growth, cultural exchange, and student development.
As part of the visit, the Ambassador attended a presentation on the University's French Program delivered by Mr. Miremont of the French Faculty, with participation from members of the Tubman University French Club. The presentation was held at the Tubman University Orange Digital Center, where students highlighted activities and initiatives designed to promote French language learning and cross-cultural engagement.
Following the presentation, Ambassador Le Guellec toured key facilities on campus to gain greater insight into the University's academic environment and ongoing development initiatives. The visit concluded with a dinner hosted by President Menjay in honor of the Ambassador.
The French Ambassador visit, underscores TU's continued commitment to strengthening international partnerships and advancing multilingual education as part of its broader mission to prepare students for global engagement.
