Harper - Maryland: Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, President and Chief Executive Officer of William V.S. Tubman University, has announced the institution's full preparedness for the 2025/2026 academic year. He made the statement during the official opening convocation held on August 26, 2025.
Addressing faculty, staff, and students, Dr. Menjay acknowledged the challenges faced by the university but assured that his administration, with the commitment of faculty and staff, is ready to move forward with available resources.
"Our administration is prepared to work with what we have, and with the strong support of our faculty and staff, we are ready for this new academic year," he emphasized.
Faculty and staff members also reaffirmed their dedication to delivering quality education to the Liberian people.
Dr. Menjay expressed gratitude to the Government of Liberia, under the leadership of President Joseph N. Boakai, for its continued support of Tubman University despite its location in rural Liberia.
"As you know, we are a government-owned institution, and we remain grateful for the support we continue to receive. With this, we are ready for the 2025/2026 academic year," Dr. Menjay noted.
In addition, Dr. Menjay disclosed that Tubman University has entered into partnerships with several international universities in the United States to strengthen its operations. He named Mercer University - Georgia, Atlanta Baylor University - Texas, Waco, Howard Payne University - Texas, Brownwood among the institutions that have agreed to provide surplus supplies to Tubman University.
These universities have committed to shipping surplus logistics and materials to Tubman University as part of our engagement to enhance preparedness for this semester," he revealed.
Highlighting achievements under his leadership, Dr. Menjay also announced that seven Tubman University students are currently pursuing studies at different international universities, representing Liberia on the global academic stage.
The opening convocation, which was well attended by faculty, students, and county local government officials, community members, marks the beginning of a promising academic year for Tubman University, the nation's premier higher learning institution in rural Liberia.
