WVSTU: Tubman University, through its College of Agriculture and Food Science, started its first community awareness campaign on animal housing and feeding in Big Town, Harper District, on November 2. This area has a large cattle population. The event brought together cattle owners and community members.
Dawolor N. Kanasuah, an Animal Specialist and Instructor at TU, led the training with strong support from his students, who helped with demonstrations and practical sessions. He taught participants about proper cattle housing, feeding methods, and animal care to improve livestock productivity and boost community income.
Kanasuah said the outreach reflects TU's goal of empowering rural communities. "We want to make sure farmers have the right knowledge to care for their animals and improve their livelihoods," he noted. At the end of the outreach, participants appreciated the training and requested more outreach programs throughout Maryland County.
This initiative supports the President/CEO of TU, Dr. Olu Q. Menjay's vision of sharing practical university knowledge with rural communities.
