Phoenix FM 102.7, the dynamic campus radio station of William V.S. Tubman University, has achieved a major breakthrough in its broadcasting capabilities. Over the weekend, the station successfully completed a significant transmission system upgrade, made possible through a strategic partnership with its newest collaborator--Orange Liberia.
The upgrade involved relocating the station's antenna and critical broadcasting equipment from a lower water tower to a significantly taller and more optimally positioned Orange telecommunications tower. This improvement has already begun to enhance signal strength and extend the station's coverage across nearby counties and even into neighboring Ivory Coast. Early listener feedback confirms the station is now being heard in areas that were previously beyond its reach.
This advancement was facilitated through the visionary leadership of Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, President of Tubman University, who played a key role in forging the partnership with Orange Liberia. His unwavering commitment to innovation and community engagement continues to drive transformative progress at the university.
"We are grateful to Dr. Menjay for connecting us with Orange Liberia and helping make this long-anticipated dream a reality," said Ms. Venessa Seckey, Acting Station Manager of Phoenix FM. "This upgrade is truly a game-changer in our mission to inform, entertain, and empower a broader audience," she added.
Ms. Seckey also extended heartfelt appreciation to the management of Orange Liberia for their invaluable support and partnership in making the upgrade possible. She further praised lead technician George Bonar and his diligent installation team for their dedication and expertise throughout the process.
With enhanced technical infrastructure now in place, Phoenix FM's Outside Broadcast (OB) crew is more prepared than ever to deliver real-time coverage from events throughout the region.
