Principles of Operation

The mission of Tubman University is to provide quality educational experiences that transform the lives of individuals for worthy service.

02. Vision

Tubman University aspires to be a center of quality and excellence.

03. Core Values

Our core values portray who we are and what we do. As such, we have determined our core values to be as follows:

  • We are a caring, accessible community characterized by excellence, integrity, civility and ethics.

  • We are learner-centered and are intellectually engaged.

  • Our focus is threefold: local, national, and international, with an emphasis on the celebration of diversity and the promotion of equal opportunities.

  • We maintain the highest academic standards and comport ourselves with professionalism.

04. Principles of Operation

The following nine principles of operation were generated at a retreat of the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors and Staff on April 17, 2009.

  • Tubman University operations shall be open, honest, with civil discussions free of violence.

  • Tubman University operations shall be transparent in all forms especially information flow and financial matters.

  • Tubman University operations shall choose the concept of teamwork that breeds cooperation and collaboration where individuals are accountable and responsible.

  • Tubman University operations shall ensure the avoidance of overlapping, mobilize clear lines of responsibilities and leverage dynamic leadership for progress.

  • Tubman University operations shall challenge all to be punctual as a new attitude to realize new vision, new perspective, and new action, all for success.

  • Tubman University operations shall promote mutual respect and ethical behavior that lead to positive outcomes.

  • Tubman University operations shall uphold confidentiality in the strictest form.

  • Tubman University believes in cleanliness in individuals and environments for healthy status, longevity and safety purposes.

  • Tubman University operations shall emphasize collective destiny, decisions and actions supported by data and evidence.

Statement on Diversity

Tubman University is dedicated to the affirmation and promotion of diversity. Our mission mandates that people of every background be able to study and work here with an expectation of respectful treatment. We seek to establish standards of behavior which honor the dignity and worth of all individuals. A major goal of our University is to develop and maintain an atmosphere which supports learning about all forms of prejudice and discrimination so that we can strive to reduce it not only on our own campuses, but wherever we encounter it. As we strive to obtain this goal we pledge to do so within an atmosphere of safety and respect. Creating and maintaining an environment where it is safe to engage one another with our differences ultimately benefits all of us.
