Harper, Maryland County - May 23, 2025 -- William V S Tubman University Volunteer Movement (TUVM) wrapped up its semester with a heartfelt outreach event in Harper Fish Town. They arrived on Friday, May 23, and despite the heavy rain, they were determined to serve the community.
The volunteers made their way to J. Hodo Maston High School, where they connected with students, handed out essential educational supplies, and distributed health materials to support local families. A communal meal brought everyone together, reinforcing a sense of unity and shared purpose.
"TUVM's outreach wasn't just a one-time visit--it marked the beginning of a new volunteer group within the Fish Town community. This initiative aims to inspire both students and residents to embrace volunteerism as a meaningful way to contribute to national growth," said Thomas Koffa Toe, president of the TUVM, in an interview. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported the mission and gave a special thanks to Mr. Franklin Buku Nah, the movement's advisor, whose mentorship continues to uplift the team.
Tubman University President Dr. Olu Q. Menjay praised the outreach as a true reflection of the institution's mission. "At TU, we're not just educating students...we're nurturing change-makers. What these volunteers have accomplished in Harper Fish Town is service in action, and it's a proud moment for our entire community," he stated
