Maryland County, Liberia - William V. S. Tubman University (TU) proudly announces that two of its outstanding students Musa D. Talaweley and Gertrude W. Toe have safely arrived in China to begin their studies at Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST).
Their arrival represents the first major outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 10, 2024, between Prof. Jiang Lizhong, President of HNUST, and Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, President of TU.
The MoU establishes opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, joint research, technology development, and cultural engagement between the two institutions.
Dr. Menjay hailed the moment as a significant step forward for TU's global mission.
"This is a proud moment for Tubman University. Seeing Musa and Gertrude in China shows that our MoU is already bearing fruit. We are committed to giving our students global exposure so that they return equipped to transform Liberia."
Musa D. Talaweley is majoring in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, while Gertrude W. Toe is majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity. Both students are currently pursuing their Bachelor's degrees and have the opportunity to continue their studies through the Master's level at HNUST, provided they maintain a strong GPA.
This milestone reflects TU's dedication to academic excellence and internationalization. The university's network of partnerships now includes Hunan University of Science and Technology (China), Morningside University (USA), University of San Pedro (Côte d'Ivoire), Mary of the Woods College (USA), and the University of Memphis (USA), all aimed at broadening opportunities for TU students and faculty.
