In preparation for the resumption of academic activities for Semester II of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, Today, Tubman University, through its Division of Academic Affairs, has begun a three-day Faculty Development Workshop aimed at refreshing and equipping faculty members for effective teaching and global engagement.
The workshop is being held from January 14-16, 2026, at the EBA Building on the University's Main Campus, under the theme:
"Empowering Faculty for Interdisciplinarity, Innovation, and Global Collaboration in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)."
At the opening session, Mr. Osman B. Moigua, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Center for Teaching, Excellence, and Learning (CTEL) at Tubman University, delivered welcome remarks and extended New Year greetings to faculty members. In his address, Mr. Moigua outlined the purpose of the workshop, emphasizing that it is designed to promote shared faculty experiences, strengthen pedagogical skills, and support the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies in response to emerging academic trends.
Workshop Structure and Focus Areas:
Day One features parallel sessions for two groups:
Group One focuses on academic policies, including the roles of the Faculty Senate and the Faculty Association. while Group Two addresses fostering academic integrity, professional ethics, positive classroom relationships, effective examination management, and strong work ethics.
Day Two of the training workshop brings both group one and two in a separate session to discuss:
✓ Team collaboration and departmental coordination;
✓The strategic importance of academic partnerships in research and innovation; and
✓ Understanding the impact of generative AI on academic writing and designing AI-resilient assessment and evaluation practices.
Day Three: the final day of the workshop, includes sessions on:
✓ Conversational French for academic and professional communication; and
✓ Best practices in journal peer review and responding effectively to reviewers' comments.
All sessions are being facilitated by a team of experienced professionals dedicated to strengthening faculty capacity and advancing academic excellence at Tubman University.
