TUBMAN UNIVERSITY OPENS GRADUATE SCHOOL, ENROLLS 64 STUDENTS IN INAUGURAL COHORT

WVSTU: September 18, 2026: William V.S. Tubman University (TU) has officially commenced graduate education, enrolling 64 students in the inaugural cohort of its newly established School of Graduate Studies, Research, Innovation and Discovery (SGSRID) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The historic launch introduces three master's degree programs: Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership, Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Construction Management, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management.

According to the University, the M.Sc. in Construction Management is the first graduate program of its kind in Liberia, marking a significant addition to TU's growing academic portfolio and efforts to develop specialized professionals for the country's development needs.

President and CEO of Tubman University, Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, described the opening of the Graduate School as a major milestone for both the University and Liberia's higher education sector.

"The commencement of the Graduate School is a major step forward for Tubman University and for higher education in Liberia. We are particularly proud to introduce the Master of Science in Construction Management, which is the first of its kind in Liberia," Dr. Menjay said.

He noted that the Graduate School is intended not only to expand access to advanced education but also to strengthen professional capacity, research and innovation in Liberia.

"This is more than simply starting master's degree programs. It is about building capacity, strengthening research, and preparing professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Liberia. Bringing these opportunities to Southeastern Liberia is also consistent with Tubman University's national mission," Dr. Menjay added.

The commencement of the programs follows a recent assessment visit by the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE). The assessment team, led by NCHE Executive Director Dr. Cecelia Cassell and Deputy Director for Quality Assurance Dr. Solomon X.Y. Jallayou, reviewed academic documents, facilities and other institutional preparations for graduate education.

The establishment of the Graduate School represents a new chapter in Tubman University's 17-year history and expands opportunities for advanced learning, professional development, research and innovation, particularly for students and professionals in Southeastern Liberia and other parts of the country.

With 64 students forming its first graduate cohort, TU is positioning the new school as an important component of its broader national mandate to provide higher education and contribute to Liberia's human-capital development.
