Charles T. Farkay is the winner of AAI Scholarship

According to a dispatch from the office of the Director of Financial Aid, a nursing student of the College of Health Sciences has been awarded the Africa America Institute (AAI) scholarship. Charles T. Farkay was pronounced winner of the scholarship after the vetting of five applicants by AAI scholarship committee. Speaking to our correspondent, Farkay said his selection as winner of AAI's scholarship is like a dream come through. "This scholarship came in the right moment; I did not have money to enroll this semester. It is like a dream come through. I am grateful to AAI for the opportunity", Farkay said.

Farkey's father died in 1990 during the peak of Liberian Civil war and his mother has been catering to him and seven siblings. He said, life had not been easy for his family and the hope of becoming a nurse would have been jeopardized without AAI's scholarship. Being the only person among his siblings to enter a university, Farkay's hope is to return to his native village in River Gee County to serve after the completion of his nursing study.

It can be recalled that on May 7, 2015, AAI President and CEO Amini Kajunju presented a check of $5,300.00 United States Dollars to Tubman University as a scholarship fund with the objective of providing full scholarship for a nursing student. The scholarship which covers fees, tuition, and boarding is AAI's contribution in rebuilding Liberia's crumbling health care system after being badly hit by deadly Ebola Virus Disease.
